With the arrest of seven people, the Thane police claimed to have solved the mystery surrounding how Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde's signature was faked recently, police sources said here today.
The MP issued a press release stating that he was shocked to learn that his signature was faked in a letter addressed to Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan for the appointment of members to a committee.
An investigation revealed that the MP's letterheads were stolen from the Delhi office and used to send fake letters after fabricating his signatures, the police said.

Among those arrested include the MP's personal assistant in the capital who has been identified as Sanjit Bannerjee, the release said.
Others arrested include another personal assistant of the MP called Arvind Tiwari, Pradeep Lotekar, Ajay Lanjewar, Sandeep Singh, Sahadev Reddy and Babashaeb Kharat, the release said.
