With the arrest of two persons, Delhi Police today claimed to have busted a Bihar-based Fake Indian currency notes (FICN) racket operating in the national capital.
The accused, identified as Haridya Thakur (29) and his close associate, Nagender Ram (34), were arrested from Nigambodh Ghat area, based on a tip-off, and fake notes of the face value of around Rs 1.05 lakh were recovered from their possession, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
To bring the duo into the dragnet, the police planted a decoy and struck a deal with them. The racket allegedly procured notes at 30 per cent of the face value from one Sandeep Lal in Bihar and sold them at a 50 per cent rate here, said police.
Investigation is underway and efforts are on to crack the entire nexus, police added.
