With the arrest of two notorious thieves of a 'puncture gang', who stole cash and valuable by tricking people, police today claimed to have solved eight theft cases from various parts of Delhi.
The duo, identified as Kalu (38) and Roshan Lal (47), residents of Kasturba Nagar were branded as 'puncture gang' by the police for their unique modus operandi.
They stole cash and valuables after raising false alarm of tyre puncture or leakage of fuel tank. The duo were arrested a few days ago by a team of Crime Branch from GTB Hospital crossing, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.

During interrogation they said they targeted lonely passengers or businessmen who carried cash and valuables. Often they would puncture tyres or raise false alarms of leakage of fuel tank or tyre puncture to distract their target, the officer said.
They would pick up the cash or valuable of the target as he or she got busy in inspecting the vehicle, he said.
The accused have also admitted to involvement in eight cases of theft executed employing this method in east Delhi's Shakarpur, Gandhi Nagar and Farsh Bazar areas. Three stolen bikes were recovered from them, he added.
