Police constable taken into custody for raping minor girl

A constable attached to Armed Reserve Police was taken into custody on charges of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in nearby Tirupur, police said today.

The constable, Karuppaiah, on security duty, dragged the girl into his room and raped her last night, police said.

Following a complaint from her parents, Karuppaiah was taken into custody.
