The police today claimed to have cracked a shootout case in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir in which a policeman was killed in May this year, by arresting two suspects.

Constable Shamim Ahmad was killed on May 11 when militants attacked a Minority Guard at Wadwan in the central Kashmir district in a failed bid to snatch weapons, a police spokesman said.

He said during the course of the investigation, security forces apprehended two prime suspects identified as Dawood Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Kashka Mohalla Soibugh, and Touseef Ahmad Kumbay, a resident of Warsangam Soibugh.

Two hand grenades were recovered from their possession, the spokesman said.

Further investigation in the case is underway, the spokesman said.
