Police station in-charge suspended in Bahraich

The in-charge of Bondi police station was suspended on Thursday following a group of people setting a thatched shed on fire here, days after unidentified persons raised anti-national slogans during immersion of Durga idols.

Some mischievous elements set a thatched shed on fire in the Khaira Bazar area, Superintendent of Police Sabharaj Singh said.

Bondi police station in-charge Suraj Prasad has been suspended for failing to effectively control the situation, he said.

The situation is under control. Police and the Provincial Armed Constabulary force have been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure, he added.

On Saturday, heated arguments erupted between people belonging to two different communities during the immersion of Durga idols at Khaira Bazaar.

 

Subsequently, some anti-social elements shouted anti-national slogans, police had said.

Police registered a case against unidentified persons on Tuesday under various sections of the IPC and the IT Act.
