A policeman was shot at by two motorcycle-borne assailants when he tried to stop them during routine patrolling in Aliganj area here, police said today.
The incident occurred on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday when the bike thieves opened fire on sub-inspector Manoj Kumar and injured him, they said, adding one of the accused was apprehended on the spot.
Police said Sheeloo of Hathras district said during interrogation that they had stolen the motorcycle they were riding on.
The motorcycle has been seized and efforts are on to apprehend his accomplice Ashok of Firozabad district, who is absconding, they said.
The Sub-Inspector has lodged an FIR against the accused.
