A 26-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by four unidentified bike-borne assailants at northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri area today in a suspected case of personal rivalry.

The deceased, identified as Dinesh, was a supplier of construction material and lived in Jahangirpuri. The four bike-borne assailants came to his shop this morning and allegedly shot him dead, said a police official.

The assailants fled the spot once Dinesh collapsed on the floor, following which locals rushed to his shop and informed the police.

Dinesh was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, the official said adding that it so far appears to be a case of personal rivalry.

"A case of murder has been registered at Mahindra Park police station and investigation is underway," said DCP (northwest) Vijay Singh.
