Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today assured the Legislative Assembly that the state government would announce a policy to shift off-shore casinos from the River Mandovi within a week.

"In next one week we will declare the policy to shift casinos out of the River Mandovi," he said.

"We have already drafted the policy, fixing a time frame to remove casinos from the river," Parrikar said.

He pointed out that it was a Congress government which allowed off-shore casinos in Goa rivers.

At present there are five off-shore casinos on Mandovi.

They have faced opposition for polluting the river.
