Pondy LG, Ministers pay homage to Kargil war heroes

Lt Governor Kiran Bedi led Puducherry today in paying homage to the martyrs of 'Operation Vijay' at the war memorial here on the occasion of 19th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Ministers A Namassivayam, M Kandasamy and R Kamalakannan, Chief Secretary Ashwini Kumar, Director General of Police S Sundari Nanda and officials of various departments and the three nominated MLAs were among those who laid wreaths at the Kargil memorial.

Later, talking to reporters, the Lt Governor said "today is day of gratitude to the bravest of the brave who laid down their lives so that India would be secure. The jawans showed absolute courage and bravery in protecting the borders of the country."

July 26 is celebrated as the anniversary of India's victory in the Kargil conflict with Pakistan.
