Portion of building collapses in Bhiwandi due to heavy rains

A portion of a building housing a powerloom unit in Bhiwandi here crashed early this morning following heavy downpour in the district, police said.

No casualties were reported in the incident, they said.

API Sopan H Vishwas of Bhiwandi taluka police station told PTI that the ground plus one structure situated in Laxmi compound of Shelar village collapsed due to heavy showers all through the night.

Local police and firemen have been rushed to the scene and debris clearing operations are underway, he added.
