Press Trust of India New Delhi
Potato prices rose by 1.56 per cent to Rs 1,350 per quintal in futures trade today due to a firming spot markets trend on rising demand amid tight supplies from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for June contract rose by Rs 20.80, or 1.56 per cent, to Rs 1,350 per quintal, with a trading volume of 162 lots.

Potato for May delivery also traded higher by Rs 5.20, or 0.39 per cent, to Rs 1,312.40 per quintal, with a business volume of 42 lots.

Analysts said increased demand in the spot markets against tight supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up potato prices at futures trade.
