A 45-year-old lineman of the state electricity department allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison after he was beaten up a person.
The victim's son alleged, two days back, the lineman, Ramshanker (45), was stripped and beaten up by one Rajan Angural, after there was a power-cut in the area, police said.
He was admitted to Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences, where he died during treatment, they said.
"On the basis of a complaint, a case of abatement to suicide has been registered against Angural under relevant sections of IPC," police said, adding Angural is reportedly a local BJP leader.
