Pregnant woman strangulated to death

A 30-year-old pregnant woman was today found dead with multiple injuries on her body at Dalsinghpara in Alipurduar district.

On hearing the cries of the victim Rekha Devi Shah's two-and-half year old child, neighbours broke upon her room and informed police, Additional SP Akash Megharia said.

The body of Rekha Devi was found lying on the floor and her child was seen crying besides her, Megharia said.

Initial enquiry suggested that Rekha Devi, who was pregnant, was strangulated to death after some scuffle, he said.

Her husband was away in Bihar and her parents-in-law were currently out of station. Property dispute could be a cause of the murder, he said.
