Prisoner dies in Mumbai jail

A 26-year-old prisoner, who hailed from Assam, today died allegedly after a heart attack at a high security central jail in south Mumbai, police said.

Nabajeet Narayandas (26), who was lodged in Arthur Road jail in connection with a cheating case, suffered a heart attack at around 4.30 AM in his barrack number-3 this morning following which he died, a jail official said.

Narayandas was brought to the prison on June 26 in connection with a cheating case registered against him by the Economic Offence Wing of the Mumbai police Crime Branch.

The body was taken to government-run J J Hospital for post mortem to ascertain the exact cause of his death, police added.
