A prisoner, serving life sentence, escaped from police custody at a civil hospital here, police said today.
Balvir Singh (35) was brought to the hospital yesterday for treatment. He managed to escape by dodging the jail staff, they said.
A resident of Ganganagar, Rajasthan, Balvir was arrested in 2008 on murder charge and subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment by a Muktsar court.
He had been in Model Jail Chandigarh since 2012, police added.
