Probe sought into death of minor girl of pvt boarding school

Press Trust of India Gadchiroli
The Gram Sabha of Darbha villagers in the district has demanded a thorough probe into the 'mysterious' death of a tribal girl student of a private boarding school at Sindewahi in neighbouring Chandrapur district recently.

The Gram Sabha on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Project Officer, ITDP (Integrated Tribal Development Project), Bhamragad, in this regard.

The girl, a student of class III, was allotted the Sindewahi-based school under the ITDP, which she joined on June 30, it stated.

When her parents called up the school to inquire about the well being of their daughter on July 13, they were told that she was doing well.

"However, on July 14 evening her parents were informed that their daughter died in the general hospital in Chandrapur," it stated.

Demanding compensation, the Gram Sabha has threatened to launch an agitation in front of the Project Office, Bhamragad.

Incharge Project Officer, ITDP, Neeraj More said he had sent a Junior Extension Officer to conduct an enquiry at the school.

The hospital authorities were not available for comment.

No police case is registered yet.
