Prohibitory orders were today withdrawn from violence-hit Makra and adjacent four villages in Birbhum district.

The prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC were lifted following improvement in the law and order situation in the area, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Bolepur, Suryaprasad Yadav said.

The orders were clamped on October 25 after the Officer-in-Charge of Parui police station Prosenjit Dutta and three other policemen got injured when bombs were hurled at them during a raid by some people at Chakmandala village near Makra the previous day.

Amid tension three persons were killed in a clash between supporters of Trinamool Congress and BJP at Makra on October 27.
