Puducherry Assembly to resume budget session tomorrow

: The Puducherry Assembly will resume its budget session tomorrow.

The House began its session on April 22 when Chief Minister N Rangasamy presented a Rs 6,450 crore tax free budget for fiscal 2015-16. Soon after, Speaker V Sabapathy had adjourned the proceedings to April 26.

Among announcements made in the budget were government's decision to switch back to supply of 10 kg free rice to every family, discontinuing the modified free rice scheme by which Rs 300 a month was disbursed to them through bank accounts.

The modified rice scheme had remained in force for two months from March.
 

The budget session is likely to go on till May 7.
