Punjab's transport department launches e-governance

The transport department of Punjab has launched e-governance project across all 22 districts of the state, said transport minister Ajit Singh Kohar today.

Dependence of general public on officials has been minimalised with the introduction of this online project, he said.

Registration at dealers' desk, online payment of fees, taxes and licenses at training institutes have been included in the computerisation process, he said adding, the department has also introduced Smart Card facility for driving licenses and certificates for registration of vehicles.

The concept of paperless office in all field offices of the department have also been introduced, added the minister.
