Punjab: Suspected dengue patient dies, authorities deny

A suspected dengue patient died in Batala town of the district from where three fresh cases were reported, even as the health authorities said they had no information about any dengue death.

Harish Chander, a social worker, was admitted to a private hospital with dengue fever and he died there last night, his family said.

Senior Medical Officer of the civil hospital, Sukhdeep Singh, however said they had no information of any dengue death.

Meanwhile three persons, suspected to be suffering from the dengue fever, have been admitted to the civil hospital here.

More than 750 cases of dengue have so far been reported from various parts of Punjab and to deal with the outbreak, the government has constituted rapid response teams in each district and set up dedicated wards for the patients.
