QED national president Afzal Ansari today refuted reports of Ansari brothers holding a meeting with Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav regarding the merger of Quami Ekta Dal with SP.

"I am sick and have been admitted in AIIMS New Delhi since the last 10 days," QED president Afzal told PTI.

He said he was sure that his brother, MLA Mukhtar Ansari, would not hold a meeting with the SP chief.

Afzal claimed that the media was treating them like a football.

He said so far SP has not contacted him about QED's merger.

There were media reports in the day claiming that the merger of QED with SP was almost complete after Ansari brothers held a meeting with Mulayam.

Earlier, also there were reports that SP appeared all set to embrace gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari's QED ahead of 2017 UP Assembly polls.
