Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai was today admitted to a private hospital to undergo a surgery for removing a bullet stuck in his spine since 1999.
Rai was an active student leader of AISA in Allahabad University during the 90s where he had led student movements against criminalisation of campus politics.
During a turmoil on campus in 1999, he was attacked and shot at. For nearly seven years his body from below the neck remained paralysed.
"He was admitted this evening and the surgery will take place tomorrow," an aide of Rai said.
