Terming the NDA's rail budget as "disheartening" from Uttar Pradesh's point of view, Samajwadi Party today alleged that the biggest state of the country and the common man were ignored in it.

"The budget is disheartening from UP's point of view. The biggest state of the country was ignored in the budget. The budget shows that the Centre did not rely on its own resources and preferred FDI and private route for completing porojects", SP spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury said.

He said that work on Etawah and Mainpuri railway tracks had been left incomplete and it should be taken care of and work should be finished by the Railway Ministry.

"The Railway Ministry will be shedding its social responsibilities and be converted into a corporate firm in the days to come", he alleged, claiming that common man was being ignored in the budget.

Having already effected a steep hike, the railway budget for 2014-15 today spared passengers of any fresh revision in fares and freight rates but pitched for reforms by proposing private and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Public Private Partnership (PPP) to meet the resource crunch.
