Railways have generated Rs 32,451.31 crore of revenue earnings from freight traffic during April-July 2014 as compared to Rs 29,690.16 crore during the corresponding period last year.
This is an increase of 9.3 per cent, said a government statement.
During this period, Railways carried 357.58 million tonnes of commodity-wise freight traffic as compared to 343 million tonnes carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.25 per cent.
In July alone, the public transporter generated Rs 7,909.354 crore as compared to Rs 6,894.61 crore during the same period last year.
