Former Congress minister Bharat Singh has praised Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for not allowing the BJP's central leadership to "impose" a president for the saffron party's state unit and thwarting internal conflicts.
Following the resignation of Ashok Parnami in April, the BJP Rajasthan unit is yet to have a president.
"The Rajasthan chief minister deserves appreciation. She dominated the BJP's national leadership and did not allow it to impose a state president.
"Only Raje in the BJP could muster courage to challenge the high-handedness of Narendra Modi (prime minister) and party chief Amit Shah," Singh said in a press conference here yesterday.
The former urban development minister in the Ashok Gehlot government also criticised the International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21.
