Rama Kanta Deori, Leader of Tiwa Jatiya Oikya Manch (Tiwa Solidarity Forum), was today elected as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC).
Ramakanta Deori defeated his rival Dharmendra Bordoloi of the Congress by three votes and receiving 17 votes for the CEM post, TAC officials said.
With AGP, BJP and two Congress members supporting TJOM in the general meeting held here at the TAC house, Deori's party got the absolute majority of 16 in the 30-member Tiwa Council, the officials said.

Khagen Bordoloi of the Oikya Manch was elected as the new chairman of TAC, while Bidyut Bordoloi of the same party was elected as Vice Chairman.
In the TAC election held on August 18 last, 15 were won by Congress, ten by Tiwa Jatiya Oikya Manch, three by BJP and two by AGP.
Commissioner North Assam Division Biswa Ranjan Samal today administered the oath of office and secrecy to all the elected members of TAC.
