Red sanders worth Rs 50 lakh seized

Ninety four logs of red sanders wood worth around Rs 50 lakh were today seized from a cattle shed during a raid in Venna village in the district, police said.

The raid was conducted by a police team led by Sub Inspector M Prasanth Kumar, based on a tip-off that the logs weighing 3,740 kg had been piled up at the cattle shed at the village that falls under Jami mandal.

"The seized red sanders worth approximately Rs 50 lakh was handed over to the Forest department officials for further action," Prasanth told PTI.

The shed belongs to a farmer identified as Y Ramachandradu, who was absconding, he said.
 

A case has been registered in this regard.
