Achuthanandan said new evidence has come up now and "many witnesses have changed their position which they had taken earlier in favour of Kurien.Under the changed circumstances, government should order a probe or file an appeal in the court to include Kurien in the case". CPI-M's women's wing All-India Democratic Women's Federation today took out a march to the Assembly, demanding a fresh probe into the case. AIDWF workers, who tried to barge into the Assembly complex, were removed by police. Addressing the marchers, AIDWA leaders T N Seema, MP, and K K Shylaja said government's position amounted to 'gross injustice' to the victim and her family and all women. Kurien's name figured again in connection with the case after the victim wrote to her advocate in Delhi on January 29 to explore the possibility of filing a review petition, seeking a fresh probe against Kurien. The girl from Suryanelli in Idukki district of Kerala was abducted in January 1996 and transported from place to place across Kerala and sexually exploited by different persons.
