A rhino was killed today, twelfth in the last two months, and its horns removed in world-famed Kaziranga National Park, forest officials said.
Patrolling forest guards heard gunshots and launched a massive search operation near the border of eastern ranges of Agratoli and Kohora.
The forest guards later found the bullet-riddled body of the rhino with its horns removed near Arikati forest camp.

Several ammunition of AK-47 rifle was also found near the carcass, sources added.
Search operations was continuing in the area with sniffer dogs pressed into service to nab the poachers.
This is the twelfth incident of a rhino being killed in the Park since January this year.
