Rishi, Shivani in last four

Unseeded duo of Rishi Reddy and Shivani Amineni advanced to the semifinals of the boys and girls sections, respectively, in the DKS ITF Junior Tennis at the Dakshin Kalikata Sansad here today.

Up against Seon Yong Han of Korea, Reddy grabbed a crucial break at 4-4 before winning the first set 6-4. In the second, it was a close affair as the set went on to a 5-5, where Reddy broke his Korean opponent before winning 7-5.

In the girls singles quarters, Shivani got the better of Sabhyata Nihalani 7-5 7-5.

Shivani rallied from the baseline to take the opening set to 5-5, where she broke Sabhyata and sealed the set 7-5.
 

The second set saw a continuous break of serves with Shivani getting lucky more often till 5-3.

Sabhyata fought back to level 5-5 as Shivani earned some great points to snatch the crucial break, without even dropping a point to win the second with an identical score.

The dream run of Yubrani ended in the hands of Taipei's Pei Hsuan Chen, the seventh seed in the draw, as the later won 6-3 6-7(3) 6-3 to make last four.

Girls Singles: Shivani Amineni b Sabhyata Nihalani 7-5 7-5, En Shuo Liang (Tpe)(3) b Akanksha A Bhan (8) 6-2 6-1, Ye Xin Ma (Chn)(6) b Nidhi Surapaneni (4) 6-3 6-4, Pei Hsuan Chen (Tpe)(7) b Yubrani Banerjee 6-3 6-7(3) 6-3.
