Press Trust of India New Delhi
Chana prices moved up by 1.11 per cent to Rs 4,001 per quintal in futures trade today as participants enlarged positions, driven by rising demand from dal mills at spot market.

Besides, tight stocks position following drop in arrivals from producing regions, fuelled the uptrend.

In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in the current month was trading higher by Rs 44, or 1.11 per cent, to Rs 4,001 per quintal with an open interest of 240 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in January gained Rs 42, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 4,018 per quintal in 47,950 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in chana prices to surging demand at spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions.
