Calling upon Uttar Pradesh government to take up the concerns of sugarcane farmers in the state, Rashtriya Lok Dal today said the party will on December 1 hold traffic blockades in the sugarcane-producing districts to press for their demands.

In a release here, party general secretary and MP Jayant Chaudhary urged farmers to join the agitation in large numbers to put pressure on the state government.

RLD also said that the state government should ensure the crushing season at sugarcane mills began on time so as to allow farmers to realise proper prices for their produce.

The release, meanwhile, said that the traffic blockade would be held between 12 noon and 3 P.M. And would not affect schoolchildren or the running of trains and emergency services.
