A 45-year-old civil construction contractor was allegedly abducted and killed by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said today.
The body of Kapurchand Rajput was found lying in a pool of blood on a road near Gorunda village this morning, a senior police official told PTI by the phone.
As per preliminary investigation, Rajput had yesterday gone to meet someone in Tetrai village, located deep inside forests, around 500km from the state capital Raipur, he said.
There he was kidnapped by a group of suspected Naxals who later killed him with sharp-edged weapons and threw his body, he said.
On getting information, a police team was sent to the spot and the body was brought for post-mortem to Sukma, the official said, adding the purpose of his visit to Tetrai was being ascertained.
At present, Rajput was not working on any project in the area but he was trying to get contract for road construction in Tetrai, he said.
A case has been registered and further probe is underway, the official added.
