Nickel prices were up by 0.24 per cent to Rs 921.50 per kg in futures trade today as participants raised bets, taking positive cues from the spot market on uptick in demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in September rose by Rs 2.20, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 921.50 per kg in a business turnover of 33 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in August contracts edged up by Rs 1.80, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 917 per kg in 2,287 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of pick up in demand from alloy-makers in the spot markets influenced nickel prices in futures trade.
