Rs 88 lakh cash seized from car in Madhya Pradesh

Over Rs 88 lakh in cash was seized from a car here Tuesday during a drive to check unaccounted cash ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh, police said.

Kanwan Police Station in-charge Kamal Singh Gehlot said the car carrying more than Rs 88 lakh in cash was intercepted in the afternoon on the Mhow-Neemuch road during the drive.

The driver could not produce documents regarding the cash, following which it was seized, he said.

Gehlot said income-tax department officials were immediately informed about the cash found in the car.

I-T officials are inquiring into the matter, he said.
