: CPI today urged Lt Governor of Puducherry to intervene and initiate action to sack the Chairman of Puducherry Planning Authority K S P Ramesh who has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) for alleged sexual harassment of a minor girl.
Secretary of Puducherry State unit of CPI R Viswanathan said in a release today that Ramesh is a functionary of the ruling AINRC and there were attempts to hush up the incident. However with the girl approaching police through Childline, a case had been registered against him under the Act.
Viswanathan said the Lt Governor should intervene and sack Ramesh from post of chairman of PPA.

He said a detailed probe should also be conducted into the style of functioning of Ramesh as PPA chairman.
Ramesh is Administrator of a school in which the girl allegedly sexually harassed by him is a student in Class IX.
He has not been arrested while police said that the probe had been intensified following booking of the case.
