: Aug 24: The Forest department will soon introduce a hydraulic ambulance facility for animals in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) in this district.
According to Forest officials, ailing animals would be lifted to the ambulance using a hydraulic machine and taken to veterinary hospitals nearby for treatment.
The ambulance arrived at the tiger reserve on Wednesday.
Officials said some modifications needed to be made in the ambulance after which it would be granted for operation.
Sathyamangalam tiger reserve is the first forest area to get the hydraulic ambulance in Tamilnadu, officials said.
