In a novel initiative, the district administration in Bandipora has asked the school authorities to organise a 'star gazing' activity on May 27 for the students as part of their interaction with nature.
"It is enjoined upon the headmasters of all the schools in the district to organise a 'star gazing' programme from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on May 27, for the students of Class 8th to Class 12th at any suitable place in their respective localities," District Development Commissioner Shah Faesal wrote in a circular to heads of the schools.
Faesal, who topped the UPSC examination in 2010, said star gazing as a learning activity has not so far been getting "adequate attention".
