A college was allegedly ransacked by some school students at Mathurapur in the district today, police said.

A group of students of the BSS Higher Secondary School apparently damaged the library, broke furniture, smashed lights and fans of Manikchak college after a school teacher was manhandled allegedly by some college students when he met them to get back the key to a hall, SP Avishek Modi said.

Some students suffered minor injuries, but none was arrested. The college students put up a road blockade, and later withdrew, he said.

The campus of the new college is located in the school as its building has not been completed yet.
