Schoolboy drowns while taking bath

: A seventh standard schoolboy drowned in the Cauvery river near the railway bridge here today while taking a bath, police said.

The boy and his friend went for a swim but were sucked the swirling waters. Villagers washing clothes nearby pulled out his friend, but could not save him.

The body of the boy was later fished out, police said.
