Due to the heat wave condition across Assam, the Morigaon district administration has today directed that all educational institutions to remain closed for three days from tomorrow to April 28.

The district administration in a press release here said both government and private schools would remain closed for the three days.

With temperatures rising to 40.1 degrees Celsius in the city this week, the highest in the last 15 years, Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Agnihotri also had yesterday issued a similar order for all schools to remain closed today and tomorrow.

According to the Regional Meteorology Centre here, Guwahati recorded a sizzling temperature of 41 degree Celsius today forcing the people to remain indoor.

The prevailing heat wave condition was due to westerly hot winds from the Gangetic plains in the lower atmosphere with no moisture feed from the Bay of Bengal to trigger rainfall, the RMC said.
