South Delhi Municipal Corporation has begun work on removing illegal hoardings and advertisements to curb defacement of the city.
Advertisement department of SDMC is removing unipoles, wall wraps, hoardings, flexes and iron structures installed illegally in the four zones, South Delhi Mayor Subhash Arya today said.
He said officials have been directed to remove illegal hoardings, wall wraps etc, in the wake of direction of the Delhi High Court.

Arya said 54 FIRs have been lodged under Delhi Prevention of Defacement Act 2007 against illegal hoardings.
"122 permissions/NOCs have been withdrawn/cancelled in respect of building wraps/self-signage and owners/advertisers/companies have been intimated. 17 illegal unipoles have been removed, 6 contract of unipoles been cancelled for violation. 46 flexes of illegal hoardings have been removed and six iron structures removed," he said.
The Mayor said SDMC will further intensify the drive of removal of illegal hoardings for beautification of the city.
He said these illegal hoardings are also causing revenue loss to the corporation besides defacing the city.
