The railways has suspended four senior officials, including the Rura station master, for negligence of duty in the recent Sealdah-Ajmer Express derailment near Kanpur.
Fifteen coaches of Sealdah-Ajmer Express had derailed at 5.22 AM at Rura station near Kanpur on December 28, leaving more than 60 passengers injured. However, there was no casualty in the incident.
Rura station master Mahesh Vaishya, traffic inspector Dharam Singh Meena, senior section engineers S K Verma and R P Singh have been suspended, according to the railways.

Action was taken against these four officials as lapses were found in their duties in the primary inquiry. A detailed inquiry is being carried out by the Commissioner Railway Safety, Northern region.
