With the release of Hokum Singh of Haryana this afternoon, two persons abducted by the NLFT and the Bru Democratic Front of Mizoram (BDFM) militants on February 2 were freed.

Commandant of the Fifth battalion of the state's India Reserve Police Lalhuliana Fanai said that Singh was released by the abductors and brought to the Mizoram border from their hideout in Bangladesh by the insurgents and handed over to the local people who in turn handed him over to a BSF outpost.

Singh, an overseer working under the Border Road Task Force (BRTF) was expected to arrive at Aizawl by late tonight, Fanai said.

Earlier, Mohammed Buizul Islam, alias Thangchhuaka alias Zoluta, married to a Mizo and residing in Aizawl, was released yesterday by the abductors and he united with his family today.

Singh and Islam were abducted by suspected Bru Democratic Front of Mizoram (BDFM) goons and NLFT militants on Monday from Mizoram-Bangladesh border's Mamit district.
