Shiv Sena Corporator Meenakshi Shinde was today elected as Thane Mayor unopposed.
Ramakant Madvi, also of the Sena, was elected Deputy Mayor without any contest.
Thane Collector Mahendra Kalyankar presided over the election process.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led party, which has ruled the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) for the last 25 years, retained its hold on the civic body in the last month's elections. It secured a majority winning 67 of the total 131 seats.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray
thanked the people of Thane for giving a clear mandate to his party in the February 21 civic polls.
Talking to the media after greeting the newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor, he said the Thane city has a special bond with his party.
He thanked other political parties for withdrawing their candidates from the Mayoral poll, allowing the Sena Corporators to get elected to the twin posts unopposed.
Later, a victory procession was taken out in the city by thousands of Shiv Sainiks.
