Senior national carrom tourney in Chennai from tomorrow

Leading players from all over the country and various institutions will be taking part in the 46th Senior National & Inter-State Carrom Championship (Men & Women) to be held at SDAT Multipurpose Indoor Stadium here from October 30 to November 3.

Over 700 players from 24 states and 16 institutions would be seen in action during the tournament, being hosted by Tamil Nadu Carrom Association (TNCA).

A number of leading players, including the current men's world champion Prasanth More and former winners, including Yogesh Pardeshi (Maharashtra) and R M Shankara (Indian Airlines) would be seen in action, said a press release here.
 

In the women's section, world champion S Appoorwa of Hyderabad, former champion S Ilavazhaki, Reshmikumari and G Revathy (TN) would vye for honours, said a TNCA press release.

Leading Tamil Nadu's challenge in the men's event would be B Radhakrishnan, D Kubendra Babu, R Tharanikuma, S Ganesan and V Mahimairaj.

The following events would held: Men's team championship (Inter-State & Inter-Institutional),women's team championship (Inter-State & Inter-Institutional), men's singles, women's singles, men's and women's veteran singles.

The winners in the men's and women's singles categories would receive Rs one lakh cash prize each.
