Punjab government today announced formation of Shivalik (Dhauladhar) Tourism Development Board to exploit the "huge potential" for tourism in sub-mountain regions along Shivalik hills.
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal would the chairman of the Board, an official spokesman said here today.
"There is an ample scope for development of religio-cultural tourism sites into live spaces in the state," he said.

Sub-mountain regions along Shivalik hills fall in SAS Nagar, Rupnagar, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot and Gurdaspur districts and projects to develop these areas as tourism destination would be undertaken.
Tourism in Punjab will not only attract tourists from within the country and abroad but also attract investors and hence increase revenue and economic growth, the spokesperson added.
As per the notification issued by the state government today, the Shivalik board would have CEO as its member secretary.
Besides, there would be 14 member committee of the Board.
