The SHO and an SI of Kosi Kalan police station here allegedly got into fisticuffs, following which a departmental inquiry has been ordered.
The incident took place on Wednesday night when SHO Surendrea Singh called a meeting over cases of smuggling of liquor. During the meeting, an argument erupted between the SHO and SI Dinesh Singh, leading to fisticuffs.
"Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ajai Kumar Pandey has been asked to probe the matter. Meanwhile, SI Dinesh Singh has been shifted to the Police Lines," senior SP Rakesh Singh said.
The SI alleged that he was assaulted by the SHO and a few constables. SHO Singh, however, denied the allegation and termed the charge of assaulting his subordinate as "baseless".
