Most of the shops in main markets of the city remained shut today in response to a 'bandh' call given by over 50 business organizations to protest against the police action on Monday in which a number of business leaders and media persons were injured.
Almost all associations and bazaar committees supported the 'bandh' call after the president of the Jewellers' Association, Dhan Raj Jain, was allegedly attacked by armed bandits Sunday evening, at his house.
Jain has been shifted to a private nursing home in New Delhi for treatment, family members said.
The BJP-supported organizations said law and order had broken down and the businessmen were being targeted at regular interval.
